The World Premiere!

Today was the day we got to show off our individual edit from the shoot two weeks ago. in that time i have manged to produce a piece of work that simulates the feel and style of what i am aiming to replicate for "The Coastline Terror".

before lead up to the showcase of the projects, i had to learn an entirely new type of editing software called Avid, as i didn't want to just rush something out through Final Cut Pro, editing software i have previously used in the past at my previous college. However i didn't really have to do this, but i wanted to give the project a 50's feeling, but didn't have time to learn this through avid, so with my rough edit sorted, i took it to East Durham College to put through Final Cut Pro to create a monochrome filter with noise in the style of 50s films of the time.

When shown today, i was quite surprised it was going to be received positively, with the only criticism being that people worried that i would fall into "parody" when portraying this era in cinema, and that some of my editing choices with camera angles were a bit odd. most of the shoot consisted of three angles; 2 close ups of the characters and a establishing shot with them both in. other shots include close-ups of the lamp (bottle) and a shot of the diagram being drawn. If i had more time on the shoot, I would have done a shot of the general watching the diagram being drawn, then it being handed to him and then a shot of the diagram.

Overall i'm quite happy how the final edit turned out and how people reacted to it. From this experience, i can happily say i feel more confident with the "Coastline Terrror" and hope to have it produced into an actual feature in the near future.
