Production diary: crows and hotels

with the hotel paid for on Wednesday, it was now finally time to shot the music video after countless emails, changes and set issues, we could finally begin. after some confusion on where we would meet, we had managed to collect the equipment from the previous group and and taken it up to the hotel. the plan was to set up our lighting equipment and for charlie to turn up later, but he had turned up early, which wasn't too much of an issue. One major issue we had was we only had that day to shoot at the room, as we could only afford one night at the hotel, meaning we would have to shoot all of the shots we needed for the music video.

the plan was to shoot the narrative sections first and then record multiple takes going through the entire song, but had to retake some of the shots during the later part of the night due to consistency issues. during the shoot, the director had to leave due to work so i decided to take over and try my best to keep to his original vision through the storyboards and scripts.we would of been on track time-wise if the client did not have to leave for a few hours, which wasn't too bad but would if been better if he had told us beforehand so we could plan ahead instead of it being sprung on us all of a sudden. luckily we had used this time to plan the lighting and next shots. other problems we had were sounds from outside interfering with the syncing of the audio for the lyrics and the client.

overall the shoot was quite success as me had managed to film all that we needed in that hotel room, meaning we could then focus on paperwork and the editing aspect of this project.another positive aspect is we would not have to worry about unexpected changes in the project. the next step is to back up the footage and beginning the editing.
