production diary: behind these edited walls

by far, my favourite aspect of this project has to go to editing the project. to sync the actual track to the lyrics, i first of all placed a "safety clip" which was a full pass of the song. in which would help syncing as we played the song as we were filming. once the clip was bedded in, all the other passes of the song we did were then easily embedded into the timeline, which would then be cut and edited.

once the song had been successfully synced, the next step was to edit in the narrative sections. one of them being something i came up with on the night of the shoot, in which charlie sees a apparition of himself on a typewriter which proved to be quite difficult. after a bit of assistance, i did however successfully create the effect by splitting the image of the typewriter ghost and then reduced the opacity to give it a ghostly appearance. However my only problem is the lighting does not match as well, creating a horizontal line, so with a bit of colour correction i managed to make the line less obvious.

once the first edit was shown however, he decided two scenes he wanted in the project were a board he brung to she shoot with his name and album name, while the other was a scene of him lying in bed. to change this, we previously shot some extra footage on Tuesday for cutaways , so we decided to make a new introduction as an establishing shot of the hotel before fading into the hotel. the cutaways we had added i colour corrected in black and white with a film grain effect to look like old home footage.

overall i am quite happy with the edit, as the process helped me try out new methods of editing and develop on my knowledge

i'm quite
