There Will Be Blood
over this weekend i had been tasked with making the blood for our bleeding man as i had previous experience making stage makup in my production preforming arts course. the ingredients for the recipie include red food coluring, black food coluring, flour, warm water and syrup. mainly the reason for the use of syrup is mainly to get the same thickness of blood.
flour, syrup and food coloring is added first to allow them to merge together to create a glue like substance.
finally adding hot water helps break up the clumps and then creates the blood.
its also a good idea to add a bit more red food coluring to make it darker in colour making it more realistic. Once the batch had cooled off the remaining clumps left were put through a colonder and then placed in a spray bottle for testing. The first test done was on some white cloth, as the main area the blood will be put on is a white shirt from a suit.
one other test i did is the blood sprayed on my hand, as our bleeding victim is holding on to its wound.
before the actual shoot, the injured area of the shirt will be sprayed on by bottle, once dried we'll have an point of reference to put blood on in future shoots.
