The Windmills Of You're mind

Although i was not required on set, i decided to join the crew either way to get a feel of the location and to talk with the director for the reasons he had chosen the location so when i comes to the editing, i would be able to get a better understanding of what his vision is for his piece.

In the scenes filmed in the bus shelters, they depict the inner psyche of the injured man, remembering people from his past and "talking" to these mirages in his mind would mabye clear his concious when he eventually expires. when i imagine what nathan was saying to me had given me various ideas on how to portray the mind, where ever that would be with sound or colour grading. these scenes are also reminding me of how other stories had show dream sequences or looked into the mind of someone.

dream sequences commonly don't look "normal" in a sense and look out of place with other scenes in the film, take Pee wee's big adventure (1985) for example when peewee has a nightmare featuring abstract shaped corridors, the bizzare imagery of clowns in doctors outfits trying to fix peewee's bike and then sending the bike to hell.

Inception (2010) uses the mind to create vasts worlds inside peoples dreams for others to invade and implant ideas, but the film takes it to the extreme by warping reality in a way thats impossible for a small group to recreate.

Both the games and the movie Silent Hill (2006) use the town as a purgatory rather than a plain of someones mind, however the creatures and people that infest the town are the reflection of another and sympbolises truama that they had went through. for example in Silent Hill 2 (2003) the creatures reflect the traumua james went through when his wife died of a terminal illness and the creature known as Pyramid head is a representation of james guilt and need for punishment for killing her. Another person in the town named maria who looks and sounds like mary is a manefestation of james desire to see his wife to die, only to be killed countless times, twice by the pyramid head.

The best part about dream sequences is i can play around with my own interpritation of our mans psyche, what music to use in these moments and how to piece these scenes together.
