Builders On Set! Part 3: Blocking session

Our first blocking took place today to help better understand what the project will look like, while also helping the camera operators test shots and practice shots, using more modern cameras like the black magic Ursa, mainly because we can only used a limited amount of film stock we cannot afford to make any mistakes.

since we had decided to mock up the hospital scene we had booked the TV studio for our camera op to figure out the lighting for the scene, however i wish i would have decided to also film at the "Building Site" to also have a good idea of what outdoor lighting would be like for the cam ops, although it would be different depending on the time of day it would still be beneficial before filming on what the shots would be like in the elements.

Our major issue began in the morning when i got the email from two of our actors, one being ill while the other could not make it due to work issues, luckily our won Katie and myself decided to step in to the roles for the day. One issue i have noticed already during the session was the director did not know what the actual hospital set meaning that some of the shots we did were somewhat pointless.

sadly we did not get all the shots needed to mock up a quick edit to show off, however i decided to cross this off as a learning experience as it would be better if we messed up on practice shots rather than messing up the actual shoot.
