The do's and Don'ts of Advertisements

It would seem simple enough to create an advertisement to try and sell a product, however there are specific rules and guidelines you must follow to not mislead the public when promoting a product and are different depending on the type of product you are selling all according to the BCAP code (The UK code of Broadcast Advertising.

since i am producing for a medical product and editing a healthy based food product, I find it very important that must uphold and follow these strict guidelines as not to break the law.

as stated, advertisements must not mislead information by hiding information or presenting the info in a unclear, unintelligible, ambiguous or untimely manner (3.2). One example of this is the advertising campaign for Redbull is because they state in their advertisements "redbull gives you wings" which was deemed misleading to some stating its a form of enhancement for education to help think better.

As i am producing for the nursem cream, it would definitely be appropriate to take heed of the rulings for medicines, medical devices, treatments and health. The advertisement must have the name of the product and the name of the active ingredient and also must include relevant wording such as "always read the labels"

with the Savourists advertising i have been looking at the regulations for "Food, Food Supplements and Associated Health Or Nutrition claims". with the nutrition claims that the advert prvides must comply with the criteria in the EU register and the health claims of the advert must be listed in the updated annex of the eu regulation are permitted in the advert. Another way adverts must back up their claims is through documentary evidence to show they must meet the conditions of use associated with the relevant claim. there are many other rules for food advertising including not to over exaggerate the nutritional claims and not to discourage the selections of other alternative foods such as fruit and vegetables.
