Builders On Set Part 3: Production diary, Hospital Shoot
Yesterday was the Last shoot for the Builders project, and although i was not at the first shoot due to personal family issues, i did however, oversee the hospital shoot which we successfully wrapped and finished early without too many issues.
Our first problem occurred before the shoot when our nurse dropped from the project at the last second due to "mental illness issues" meaning we would have to get someone as soon as possible. Luckily we had Alice Wilkinson from level 6 was nice enough to take her place for the day.
As we had set up the hospital set prior to the shoot, the only thing that need setting up were the LED lighting, the problem was the lighting reflected from the whiteboard in the shot. that's when camera Op Hannah, came up the genius plan to block the reflections with the medical poster hanging on the board.
The main issue i had with this scene however was the safety, as i felt the director had not considered the danger the actor would be in if the stunt had failed, so we decided to use sand bags at the side opposite to our builder where he lands so the mattress he lands on does not slip when he landed. I had also decided to step in and demonstrate a more safer way to land and roll and how to properly time it so that no-one gets hurt and the camera op can also move into position at the right time.
The other issue we had to deal with was the change in lighting from outside. Even though we had closed the blinds in the room, the light would still shine in making the room more orange in tone. Since i was only overseeing the project and Nathan had came on to observe and help, we both tried to block the lighting with our bodies, our coats and taping the light reflector to the wall to try and block out as much light as possible.
Overall, aside from those issues we had successfully wrapped filming on this project. The only thing now we can do is wait on how it will look like after it is processed and then to be edited
