Pitch Perfect 3: the empire strikes back
The pitching process came and went once again, and once again my project was not one of them being produced. A part of me still felt disheartened at this decision as i feel like i made a water tight argument on why it should of been chosen and how different of a project this production could be, however this did open an opportunity i thought i would never be asked to do.
A few days before we were set to pitch i was brought in to a production meeting with the level 6's and was personally pitched on their final major project known as "Killing Time". From the meeting they had asked me to be an editor on this project, but would be (so far) one of the most difficult projects i would have worked on. The premise of the film would be based on time jumping from different places which would mean heavy focus on using editing software which is quite alien to me: Adobe After Effects.
I was more than happy to work on this project, however there was a 20/20 catch, If i said yes to them, there was a guarantee that my project would not be chosen due to the amount of work generated by both "Killing Time" And "The Night Lights". However this would be the same if "The Night Lights" was chosen so basically it would be one or the other. So from my personal view i totally Understand Hutch's decision on putting me on this project as it will also give me a foot-in on creating my final major project in the future.
The 1st project chosen was a promotional video for the company called filtronic, a type of private tech based company which i was not a part of. The 2nd project chosen was a film called "Poppies Cafe For monsters" written by lynley Sykes, a rather interesting looking project which would look fun to be a part of creatively. And finally the last project that was chosen was a learning recourse for Hutch's website known as teacher central wish was pitched by Craig.
Also on the day we were given our roles in the project and at first i was quite confused at the choices as i was not an editor on any of these project but as a camera op for the teacher central project, however i feel like this was ultimately a good choice as i feel i will be heavily under pressure editing "Killing Time". Overall i'm somewhat happy with the results of the pitching but i still hope befre this course officailly ends i get a shot of producing a project of my own
