Patcha Kutcha 2: electric boogaloo
monday was when we had to pitch our reports for professional studies and the format of pitching we did was patcha kutcha, with 10 slides of images and 20 secounds per slide to pitch what you wnated to do. but this time it was rather difficult.
For this year for professional studies i decided that my report would look into getting into the film industry as a film editor. i also will be trying to find information on how editors find freelance work and showcase their talents online so they are hireable, such as Facebook groups and other websites such as IMDB and see what other work they do will waiting for editing work to come along
I also will need to look into not only how freelancing editors get work, but they would also find work through career-based websites and how people are trained through production houses. I will look into the history of film editing of the past through more experienced editors and to see if the process of being hired as an editor has changed especially how editing has extremely changed from physical film to the digital filming of today and from the changing of visual effects as well. I also want to find out how an editor would showcase his talents back in the day without the need of the internet and digital methods to store their work
the other aspect of the job is the people skills an editor needs because an editor must be able to work as a team, especially the director as they always have to work with each over to work over projects. The other aspect for the editor is to be able to work to deadlines.
one of the main aspects as a film editor is to have knowledge of editing software, such as avid, final cut pro and adobe premiere. There also could be other types of editing, like sequencing editing, colour editing, sound editing and visual effects editing.
My main concern however is gaining my primary. I will be looking at big editor pages on facebook and create a survey through survey monkey and will try to look for more additional information from Chris, campbell, an editor that had a talk with us recently. The other way I will try to find my primary based research is through the guild of british film and television editors or the GBFTE in which I will ask the information that I need.
