My first (And probably only) response

After many weeks on worrying about getting no responses from my survey, i finally got my first response in the form of a previous guest speaker, chris campbell.

getting Chris in my survey was majorly important to my survey as he is a seasoned editor who has done many large scale projects and would definitely shine a light on the way the industry works.

From the results i had gained some very interesting things when getting into the industry. for starters, he had told me in the days before the internet, he would send his work on a tape through a courier which would then be sent through to the client.

One of my main hopes when getting a professional editor to do my survey would yield secret methods of getting into the industry, such as insider friends who help them out, sadly my dreams were crushed and it seems like the norm of getting in the role is starting off at the bottom as a runner but slowly but surely work up to an editor.

One piece of information i found very thoughtful was really more advice, which was "Be organised. Be inspired - always be learning from any source available. Cut all the time - Anything and everything will teach you something. And finally - get plenty of sleep, you're gonna be awake for a lot longer than you'd like."

Even though i am very happy that chris had took the time to fill out my survey, i am however disheartened that all the other editors that i sent my survey to decided not to fill it out, as i hoped to get a varied amount of results from various forms of editors. I may still be able to work with one result but it may heavily impact the way i present my one and only result.
