production diary 1. Killing time: All The Time In the World

Today i decided to start the editing process for killing time as both teacher central and Poppy's Cafe starting to enter the halfway periods of production. Unfortunately i am already in a bad situation, as this is a final major project for the level 6's and a lot of pressure is on for me as i want to make this project the best it can be, but unfortunately to my understanding that half of the crew do not have the appropriate paperwork to assist in the production of the film. Even with some of the scenes already have been shot, a storyboard has not even been made to help the camera ops or even me the editor to assist in helping me piece what the director's vision is. Furthermore i was updated that a newer version of the script i've had a look at has been made, meaning i'm more in the dark than i already was, along with the rest of the crew.

Luckily i've planned for this issue to happen as instead of just waiting for the appropriate materials, i decided to looks at the filmed scenes that were completed and begin to create my own edit decision list. Unfortunately i had stepped into another situation as looking into the footage, major problems seem to plague the shoots, including various continuity issues, including missing extras, changing in daylight and weather, damaged props and too much space being shot where it would hide the green screen (the train set)

Another major issue is the lack of a sound report sheet, meaning synching the audio that was shot on the day would be turned into a guessing game.

After just starting the editing process i am already thrown into the deep end working with little to no information on what im editing and how it should be pieced together, so as an editor i should use my instincts and try and edit something from what i got and hope its what the director would want.
