Back To The Drawing Board
(“Betty Boop in Snow White” (1933) - (Max Fleischer) Fleischer Studios)
with filming commencing for the "me myself and i" project, iv'e tried to learn myself the art style 30s cartoons lend themselves too, known as "Rubber Hose Animation" where characters (and even objects had "rubber hose limbs", which were parts of the body, like hands and legs that are free flowing and curvy without the , without using using elbows or knees.
Sadly, after various test animations and lack of time, i have had to downscale the animation for the project. when it came to drawing the devil for the project, i did however look back at my concepts when the devil was originally going to be a floating head rising from the ground, with that i decided to take a look back at another influence to my Me, Myself, And I project, Cuphead (Studio MDHR.2017)
Animated in the same style of rubber hose animation, i wanted to take inspiration on facial expressions, with the devil now being just a head, i looked at two of the games Bosses, the Cat from "Murine Corps" and "The Devil" From "One Hell Of A Time"
Both the cat and the Devil's face are the main aspects of the boss, as it is what strikes out from the water coloured backgrounds and very expressive. also since its one part of the body it appears that i could hypothetically animate the eyes and mouth and keep the head outline in, making the animation complex less confusing.
