Production Diary: Adam's Shoot Part 2

Friday's Shoot was a massive improvement compared to the 1st shoot as i managed to fill out a risk assessment successfully and handed in my booking out form yesterday to ensure i was prepared for today's shoot.

From my last shoot, i have slightly changed my plot and themes for "On The Devils Time" and have now changed the projects name to "Make Fun Not Work". This originally concerned me as i was worried we would have to completely re shoot my project, but after our Tutorial with mike, i was able to write a new script, film synopsis and mood board in time before the shoot.

The crew had to change slightly, due to Craig and myself swapping roles during Nathan woods shoot, so as Craig needed evidence of him being a cam op, Adam M was swapped to be Sound op and Nathan being our runner. During the shoot, Craig did have some problems operating the camera, but he started to get the hang of it when I and Adam M assisted him with some of the functions, allowing him to get the shots i needed for my project.

During the filming of the skeleton fight, i wanted to experiment with a few shots that i originally didn't add to my shot list and was influenced by Sam Rami's Evil Dead Series of films and most recently Ash Vs The Evil Dead for example, when the action is fast paced, the camera always tracks the action now matter how fast the action is. the action is slapstick orientated and over the top giving it a comedic scene. I also was influenced by the movement of the puppeted versions of the skeletons from Army Of Darkness(1992).

Although i still planned to create a foley to give it a 30s cartoon feel, i still had sound in so my runner (Nathan) could read out lines for the NARRATOR character to help me with my timing when it comes to editing the piece. We did come across some technical difficulties however. For starters, when we went to change our battery from the one that ran out, it turns out the 2nd battery ran out aswell as the charger in the stores was either not functioning or plugged in. Luckily lee had us a replacement in time ready to finish the footage.

Overall, i'm quite happy with the footage i have acquired From both shoots, i feel more confident when it comes to editing my final project. My final Task before editing next week is to create my Foley sound for the piece.
